How it works
How does Chimekey give guests building access?
Chimekey is an automated callbox access system for short-term rental hosts. It routes your building's existing callbox phone line through its platform, which answers incoming calls, verifies the guest's unique reservation code, and opens the door automatically with no host involvement. Codes are generated per booking from your Airbnb or VRBO calendar sync and expire automatically at checkout.

Sync your calendar
Paste your Airbnb, VRBO, or Booking.com iCal URL. Chimekey imports your reservations and syncs them so codes are always current.

Codes are created
Each reservation automatically gets a unique 4-digit code, valid from check-in to checkout.

Guest gets in
Your guest enters their code at the callbox. No keypad? They just tap "Unlock" in their link instead. Either way the door unlocks and every attempt is logged in your activity feed.

Every guest gets a private link with an “Unlock” button that works only for the dates of their stay. No app, no code. Two ways it can open your door:
No-keypad callbox
Your callbox dials out but has no keypad (or a broken one)? The guest taps "Unlock," presses the call button, and Chimekey answers the call and sends the door-open tones for them.
Direct door relay
No callbox that dials out, just an in-unit buzzer? A small Wi-Fi relay wired to your door release opens it the moment the guest taps "Unlock." No phone call needed. It's a paid add-on, and our certified installers handle the professional setup for you.
